Where Heritage Meets Leadership

Jewish Futures: Engaging Our Jewish Cores

As a proudly Jewish university, BIU instills a profound understanding of Jewish values and heritage in all its students—Jewish and non-Jewish alike. Here, Jewish tradition is not only preserved but reimagined and applied to contemporary global challenges.

Students from all backgrounds graduate with a deeper connection to their Jewish roots, gaining knowledge and leadership skills that prepare them to sustain and strengthen Jewish communities worldwide. Where Curiosity Meets Connection

Linda Zamir, a biology student, deepened her connection to Judaism through the Reishit program, where she explored Jewish texts, traditions, and holidays in a way that was both accessible and meaningful.“It brought me closer to a Judaism I had not known before,” she shared. “Shabbat became more special. I wanted to read more and research more about Jewish figures and leaders.”

Where Legacy Meets Leadership

Professor Jonathan Rynhold explains how Bar-Ilan University’s mission reflects a powerful convergence of values, “By rooting [BIU] in the Jewish religious tradition and synthesizing it with modern democratic ideas—which is exactly what Rabbi Sacks did—we are making Israel both more Jewish and more democratic and creating a generation of leaders who are connected in a network that would not otherwise exist.”
